Fastenal was founded in 1967 in Winona, MN by company Chairman, Bob Kierlin. From this beginning Fastenal has expanded to become the fastest growing full-line industrial distributor and is now the largest fastener distributor in the nation. In 1987 Fastenal went public on the NASDAQ. Our service-oriented business network currently includes an in-house Manufacturing Division, a Quality Assurance and Engineering Department, a strategic system of 12 Distribution Centers, a fleet of over 275 company-owned semi-trucks & trailers and almost 2,200 Stroe sites with locations in all 50 states, Canada, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Singapore, Europe, and China. Our unique approach sets the benchmark for distributors serving MRO, OEM and the Construction market. Our fastener testing laboratories in Taiwan & China are currently A2LA accredited. In 2003 Fastenal set up a subsidiary company in Shanghai, China called FASTCO and in 2006 a representative office in Gangshan, Taiwan. There are over 160 employees in Shanghai, and 12 in Taiwan.
